Summer 2008 Programs

 

Expressive Arts Workshop

Preteens and teens (age 12-18) are invited to experience the healing benefits

of the group creative process.  Participants will explore the use of words,

images, and textures in the expression of grief and healing. 

Time:  2pm-4pm

Days:  Mondays

Fee:  $25 per session

Fee waivers are available for those who qualify. You must RSVP one week

prior to the start date at 210-736-4847, ext. 227. Supplies will be provided.

 

Young Adult Grief Support Group

Young adults (age 16-24) who have suffered the loss of a loved one are

invited to come and join with others in exploring the many facets of grief

and death through the use of music, art, poetry and cinema.

Time: 5:30-6:30pm

Days: Mondays

This program is offered free of charge. You must RSVP one week prior to

the start date at 210-736-4847, ext. 229. Supplies will be provided.

 

Drama Workshop

This summer marks the third annual CBCST Drama Workshop. With the

guidance of skilled professionals, children and teens will have an opportunity

to explore grief through the expressive lens of costume design, set making,

script writing, and drama therapy. 

Time:   2pm – 4pm

Days: Tuesdays

Fee:  $25 per session

Fee waivers are available for those who qualify. You must RSVP one week

 prior to the start date at 210-736-4847, ext. 229. Supplies will be provided.

 

Women’s Grief Support Group

The CBCST is offering a summer support group geared toward exploring

the feminine side of grieving.  The group will be similar in format to the spring

and fall sessions.  Women are invited to attend, with or without the

involvement of their children. 

Time: 5:30pm – 6:30pm

Days: Tuesdays

This program is offered free of charge. You must RSVP one week prior to

the start date at 210-736-4847, ext. 228.

 

Men’s Grief Support Group

The CBCST is offering a summer support group geared toward exploring the

masculine side of grieving.  The group will be similar in format to the spring

and fall sessions.  Men are invited to attend, with or without the involvement

of their children. 

Time: 5:30pm – 6:30pm

Days: Wednesdays

This program is offered free of charge. You must RSVP one week prior to

the start date at 210-736-4847, ext. 227.

 

Dance & Movement Workshop

Through dance, children and teens will learn to use movement as a means of

communicating emotions of grief and encourage self-expression. Prior dance

experience is not required. 

Time: 2pm-4pm

Days:  Wednesdays

Fee: $25 per session

You must RSVP one week prior to the start date at 210-736-4847, ext. 228.

Join the Friends of the CBC
The Children's Bereavement Center is proud to have a group of dedicated
volunteers known as the Friends of the CBC. Friends of the CBC is a membership-based alliance of caring individuals committed to raising funds for the CBCST,  increasing community awareness about the programs and services the CBCST provides, and supporting the charitable and educational

mission of the CBCST.

 

As a Friend of the CBC, your membership dues will help the CBCST provide various support programs and services to grieving children, teens, young adults and their caregivers after the death of a loved one; and provide grief training to local educators, healthcare providers and other community partners in healing.

 

Annual membership levels: $100 Patron   $50 Family   $35 Individual

 

Friends of the CBC sponsor several special events every year to include the Hearts in Harmony Gala, a Spring Open House and a Fall Brunch.

 

 

Tour of the Heart

 

4th Tuesday of the month

12:00-1:00 pm

 

Come and see for yourself how children, teens and young adults find healing through expressive arts, peer support programs and counseling in our beautiful home-like setting.  You will also learn more about the Center’s mission, its programs & services, and how you, too, can foster healing for grieving youth, their families and the community.
