Helping the Grieving Student

This is a two hour activity based training designed to educate and prepare school personnel who work with grieving children. The training will include: (1) Understanding a child’s perception of death as it relates to the stages of development; (2) Recognizing indicators of complicated or traumatic grief; (3) Understanding the physiological, emotional, behavioral and spiritual manifestations of grief and their impact on the academic performance; (4) Communicating with children and their caregivers about death and dying;(5) Instituting age and classroom appropriate interventions for children who are grieving and their classmates.
